Kazan city is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, in Russian Federation. It locates right near Volga River and is one of the oldest cities in Russia. In 2005 it celebrated its 1000 anniversary. Recently Kazan city had granted an official brand as the "Third Capital" of Russia. It is one of the cities with rich history and where people of various religions live in peace.
One of the remarkable and historical places in Kazan is the Kazan Kremlin - the complex of history built by Russian tzar Ivan the Terrible on the runis of the former castle of Kazan Khans. In 2000 it was recognized as the World Heritage Site
1. The view to Kazan Kremlin walls and towers. Over the walls there is a new-bult blue-and-white mosque Qul-Sharif, one of the largest in Russia and Europe.
9. In front of the Spassky Tower there is a monument of Musa Jalil, the Soviet Tatar poet and resistance fighter. He was awarded the Hero of the Sovient Union for fighting against the Nazis Germany. For his activity he was arrested and sent to Moabit Prison in Berlin. In 1944 he was guillotined at Plotzensee Prison. Jalil's "The Moabit Notebooks" written in Moabit Prison in Berlin included over 60s poems.

18. Here we can see the remains of old break-wall. The yellow-color construction is the Main Building of Cannon Yard.

22. To the right of the Main Building there is an arch. After passing it we enter the broad street. To the left there is Suyumbike Tower. The white building with flag is the Presidental Residence.
23. Suyumbike Tower is one of 7 leaning towers over the world. It is the highest construction within the historical complex, and inclination is about 2 meters.In 90s the measures had been taken to stop the leaning.
The most popular legend says that the tower was erected more than a century earlier by Ivan the Terrible's artisans in just a week's time. As the legend goes, the Kazan queen Soyembika threw herself down from the highest tier, hence the name.

5. To the left there is Preobrazhenskaya (Gate) Tower. It s the gate for tourists to enter the Kremlin.
6. At the top of Preobrazhenskaya Tower there is a weathercock made as a dragon Zilant - the ancient symbol of Kazan
7. We turn to the right, walk along the wall, pass the South-West Round Tower, turn left and face with Spassky (Gate) Tower.
8. It resembles the Spassky Tower of Moscow Kremlin - with five-point star at the top and big round clock.
