"Kaminne Selo" (Stone Village) is the unique natural place located in Zhytomir province, north of Ukraine. In spite of fact that it is an interesting enough place,the "Kaminne Selo" is not so famus worldwide, and this place is difficult to reach, especially in rainy or snow weather.
Geological state preserve "Kaminne Selo" occupies an area of 15 ha deep in the forest, where massive boulders (rounded rocks) of great sizes locates.

It is still unclear the origin of this natural phenomenon. There are two main versions. In ancient times the glacier had transported these stones from remote places. Another one says that they are root (domestic) rocks, or the remnants of mountains, and had been rounded in the process of glacier moving.

Besides the scientific explanations there are also the legends regarding this plcae. One of the legent says that there was a rich village. One day some poors came here asking for help but nobody from the rich village hellped them. At dawn of the next day all the buildings petrified. In other version, God came into the village disguised as a beggar and asked for some water and bread. The local residents turned him down, throwing at him just a stale crust. This angered God, and he turned the people and their huts into stones. On one of the stones He left the track of the foot.
According to another legend, demons were building a mill at night in the forest, but they could not finish their work before dawn. With the first cockcrows, the demons’ mill turned to stone and fell apart.

21. Also, one more legend is that just on this stone the God fought with Devil and beat it. The chain of triangle-shaped stones is the Devil's backbone.
