Lahij - the village of handcrafts traditions

High in the mountains of the Greater Caucasus in Azerbaijan, Ismailli region, there is a small village called Lahij (Lahic in Azerbaijani). It is a notable place in Azerbaijan knowing with its authenic handicrafts traditions, particularly related to copper as well as the carpets and rug crafts.

Being at the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus the village is known far beyond the local borders. Just the old sewage system is considered to be built 1000-1500 years ago. The earthquakes in region made local people to construct the houses usng a specific technique.
