Kyiv. Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square). How it was before.

Maidan Nezalezhnosti is the central square of Kyiv. It is located on Kreshchatyk Street. The square has been known under many different names, but often it is called simply Maidan.
The pictures was made during my trip to Ukraine in May month, 2013. And they are like "drawings" for everyday life of people of Kyiv and the square itself.

Julfa border town (Iran)

I arrived this border town two years ago, when being a member of small team we leaved Baku city and went to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (Azerbaijan) by cars through the territory of Iran.
This town locates at the right bank of Araks (Araz) River and connects with town of the same name in Azerbaijan by railway bridge. 
On the way back, while our cars were under the custom processing, I had a chance to walk a little over the town and make some pictures. It is ncessary to mention that I made them by my mobile camera just in case because I did not want any troubles with locals or police. 

1. The commerce, banks and fast food services are well developed in Julfa like in any border town. Markets (bazaar) as well as the numerous shops locate just near the custom office. Here you can buy everything - from soap to carpets and foods. Of course, all goods are made in Iran. Most of bought goods is delivered to Nakhchivan.     

Earthquake in Azerbaijan

Today, in February 10, 2014 an earthquake took place 109 km west of Baku city at 16:06. The magnitude was 5.4, epicenter depth is 55 km. The shoсks were felt in Baku city and surroundings. No damages, no victims.

Kyiv Zoo

The zoo was established in 1908 (or in 1907 or 1909 according to different sources) by the association of naturalists. At present it locates in the center of Kyiv city, at Pobeda avenue, 32 and surrounded by residental area.
